Discover our botanicals…

Carefully selected for a full-bodied flavour, Red Door Gin balances five core gin botanicals with the deliciously distinctive flavours of three botanicals inspired by the local landscape.

Locally-inspired botanicals

Our unique selection of three locally-inspired botanicals includes, pearls of heather, common on Scottish hillsides, rowan berries, found in local wooded areas, and sea buckthorn, growing wild in Scotland’s coastal areas.

Classic gin botanicals

Our five, classic gin botanicals (juniper berries, lemon peel, bitter orange peel, coriander seed and angelica root) create the base to a London Dry Gin with a complex palate and a lusciously long finish.

Sea Buckthorn

Locally Inspired Botanical

These tart, tangy berries have crisp, warming citrus flavours. Sea buckthorn’s aromatic flavour adds fresh, fruity top notes to Red Door Gin.

Sometimes known as ‘sea berries’, sea buckthorn can be found growing wild in Scotland’s coastal fringes.

Pearls of Heather

Locally Inspired Botanical

Heather’s flavour is subtly perfumed; it imparts deliciously delicate grassy, floral notes to Red Door Gin.

Heather is iconic across the Scottish landscape. When in bloom, heather populates the Scottish hillsides with a haze of bright purple flowers. Pearls of heather provides a uniquely Scottish twist on the traditional floral undertones from common gin botanicals such as rose petals and chamomile.

Rowan Berries

Locally Inspired Botanical

Rowan berry’s rich flavour is slightly bitter with subtle chocolatey, smoky overtones. It is one of the key elements to building Red Door’s bittersweet, full bodied flavour profile.

Rowan berries can be found in abundance in our local glens and forests.

Juniper Berries

Classic Gin Botanical

Built on a solid foundation of finest juniper berries, our signature note is punchy, piney with a fruity freshness.

Juniper is the base to all gin; the word ‘gin’ derives from the Latin juniperus, meaning juniper. Red Door Gin is classified as a London Dry Gin, meaning its signature note on both the nose and the palate must be juniper.

Bitter Orange Peel

Classic Gin Botanical

Tarter and tangier than your average gin, a burst of bitter orange peel gives Red Door Gin a deliciously distinctive citrus taste. Combined with lemon peel, bitter orange provides a delectable depth of comforting citrus flavours.

Bitter Orange Peel

Lemon Peel

Classic Gin Botanical

Crisp and clean, lemon peel brings uplifting citrus notes to the palate. Creating a beautiful zesty balance, lemon peel provides essential contrast to the bittersweet, herbal notes of Red Door Gin.

Lemon Peel

Angelica Root

Classic Gin Botanical

Angelica root has a warm, earthy flavour with slightly bitter, herbaceous notes. It provides essential bite and a lingering aftertaste, giving Red Door Gin that lusciously long finish.

Angelica root is often regarded as the third major botanical in most gins. Its unique flavour acts as a binding agent, creating harmony between the other complex flavours of our botanicals.

Angelica Root

Coriander Seeds

Classic Gin Botanical

Coriander seed is citrusy, nutty and slightly spicy. It delivers zesty notes that are presented towards the end of the palate, adding a delicious depth and complexity to Red Door Gin.
